Lego: 50 years

It looks like Lego exists 50 years. I thought it was much older but according to these print ads it is not. They recreate historic events with Lego.

It reminds me of an unofficial campaign that was made by two staff members of advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi China. They came up with the slogan Lego – Rebuild it. If you look at the following three pictures you will see why they were a bit controversial and the two creatives were fired: 1,
2 and 3.

In Iraq a lot of foreigners are being kidnapped. To prove that these people are still alive the kidnappers give them a newspaper so the date can be verified. In this case the guy that is being kidnapped is already holding the newspaper with his picture that the kidnappers are going to send to the newspaper to demand a ransom. This advertisement was made for Bild, a German newspaper that claims to be world’s fastest newspaper.

I’ve posted this ad because I really love the graphical efforts they put into this one. Make sure you look at the enlarged version of the image, you can see the incredible amount of details. And ofcourse the idea behind this campaign is not bad at all!

This is an old but very effective advertisement. They twisted the words. We are all familiar the slogan ‘Smoking causes cancer’ but the other way around ‘ Cancer cures smoking’ is very provocative. Even the most die-hard smoker will think twice before he lights up another cigarette.

This advertisement was made to raise money for the Braille League in Belgium. They combined words with the sound the object or animal makes. Nice idea to catch somebody’s attention. Look under the large image to find the 3 other posters.

Can you imagine a mountain that steep? These bikers take it to the next step, biking on fat people.
Brr, I’d rather stay on the clean roads or in the mountains… This ad was made for Sport Plausch a store that mainly sells mountain bikes.
