Carlsberg: Probably the best bottle in the world

Today I couldn’t find any good campaign, that’s why I’ve been searching some archives. And I stumbled upon a great Belgian campaign for Carlsberg. Duval Guillaume Antwerp made this billboard to promote the new bottles for Carlsberg beer. And the promote the new bottles there is no better way than use the bottles themselves. Instead of using ink for this billboard, they wrote the text with bottles.

Starting today, I will write a monthly post regarding advertising placement.

This month Creative Criminals will present you the best advertisements placed on benches. I have been surfing the net the last couple of weeks in search for special, mostly ambient advertisement, placed on benches. Each advertisement will be accompanied by a short explanation. All the bench advertisements that will be made in the future will be added to this topic. Enjoy these benchvertisements.

Denver Water

On this bench features the slogan “Use only what you need”. It was placed on corners of park benches leaving the rest blank. The campaign further existed of TV commercial, a bus ad, a billboard and a car ambient. The Denver Water commissioned the $1 million campaign, which was launched in early July 2007, to further its goal of reducing water consumption by 22 percent.

Volkswagen: Banknote

This is amazing, the idea is really simple and very cheap.
In times of ‘the financial crisis’ it’s important to communicate that cars are becoming more fuel efficient. And the medium that fits the most in this theme is money itself off course. DDB Berlin distributed 5,000 modified euro bills, the only thing they did was put a stamp on them. Estimates are they reached over 50,000 people with this campaign. Surely not everyone who got this bill saw the stamp, but it still has a lot of impact for it’s price. The only question I have with this idea… Is it legal?

Chicago Tribune: Both sides of the story

The Chicago Tribune is a daily newspaper based in Chicago, Illinois, United States, formerly self-styled as the “World’s Greatest Newspaper”. It is currently the eighth largest newspaper in America by circulation and the second largest under Tribune’s ownership behind Los Angeles Times.

Typical for the Chicago Tribune is that they always look at both sides of a story, what is shown in this campaign.
They have been running a print advertising campaign outlining the difference a newspaper with integrity can make to the community.

Here is yet another brilliant advertisement made for Wonderbra. A lady is holding shopping bags in both her hands and still she has the ability to hold up her umbrella.

Eichborn: Fly Banner

Eichborn is a German publisher, in their logo they have used a fly. To promote their exhibition stand at the Franfurt Book Fair, they prepared 200 flies with an ultra light banner. They claim there were no flies harmed because the banner was attached with natural wax. After a short time the banner dropped off by itself. But if you look at these poor things… I’m not sure if this would have been good for these insects. Tip to all companies before using animals in a promotion campaign: think twice! I’m sure there will be a lot of animal right fighters protesting against this.

Maglite: very strong light

Maglite is a brand of flashlight manufactured by Mag Instrument, Inc.
But a Maglite is not an ordinary flashlight. Every adventurer has to have one of these, because they are as strong as the headlights of a car, or even stronger…

Again new ads in the ‘get a mac’ series, personally I don’t think they are as good as the previous ones, except for this one. I don’t know if I’m biased because I’m a mac user myself, but you have to admit they got a point…
