This reminds us of the classic battle between Audi and BMW. In this case Coca-Cola bought a shop window next to a Starbucks. The poster in the window reads “Who has time to stand in line for a latte?”. Not sure if Starbucks is a direct competitor for Diet Coke, but is sure is a nice example of smart media buying.

Today we present you something completely different. When advertisers put out billboards there are also some risks involved with it. People can alter them, some call it vandalism others call it street art. The last few years this new art form popped out on streets all over the world. One of the most influencing artists in this world is without a doubt Banksy. The Londoner has been inspiring artists all over the world. In this example you can see how street art can influence outdoor advertising. An artist called Monotremu glued a message on this billboard resembling a warning on a cigarette package. The translation says: “Santa Claus Doesn’t Exist”. The message was probably removed after a couple of hours, but the pictures are timeless.

Coca-Cola: Straw

Some nice billboards designed for Coca Cola, the straws from the bottles are used in situations outside of the billboard. Can we call this ‘thinking outside the box’?

Edit: Rindert posted a similar ad back in 2009. It’s from the same agency, so probably these are new pictures of the campaign back then. Or maybe they’ve continued it with new ideas this year?
