This is a really old ad for Ikea, it aired in 2002. But it’s still worth sharing because it’s simply hilarious. Interesting fact: this was the first ad ever published on adsoftheworld.com.
Imagine: you’re sitting in the cinema, watching a good movie and forgetting everything around you. Suddenly you see a projection on the screen. It’s not someone with a little lazer light, but you see names and prices of IKEA products projected on the furniture in the movie..
After the movie, somebody is so kind to give you a catalogue with all the IKEA products in it..
Believe it or not, but this has been a campaign for IKEA in Germany in order to promote Ikea products among young people. The agency (DDB) equipped guerilla teams with some powerful portable projectors and sent them into the cinemas.
Even if I must admit that this is cunning plan of IKEA and DDB, I wouldn’t appreciate it at all.
Brad Pitt wouldn’t either I think..
(After the jump you can see the video of this campaign)
Weve seen some good ad’s from Ikea the last few months. I like this one especially, it’s a simple but quite genious idea. Keep it going Ikea (or should I say: keep it going DDB?)
Some time ago Rindert posted a cool example of using stairs for doing a promotion. Coca Cola did a great job on this.
But I believe IKEA has done an even better job. Offcourse it has been done a lot, and it’s not quite original anymore. But still the effect they created is pretty amazing.
