Adolf Hitler was the face and brain of the rise of facism in Europe, World War II and the Holocaust. He is considered to be one of the most cruel dictators of all time and during his reign he is held responsable for murdering millions of innocent people. So why using this evil man in contemporary advertising campaigns?

Because Hitler can shock, and shock-vertising has always been eye-catching. Here’s a series of ads where the dictator is often derided.. Please note that this post is only compiled in the sake of creative advertising ideas, not to harm or shock anyone whatsoever.

Remember the Ritual project by Stella-Artois? Gillette created a similar billboard in SoHo New-York. The billboard features Derek Jeter, the captain of the New York Yankees baseball team. What’s so special about this billboard you say? It’s completely hand painted and the image changes daily. One day he needs a shave, the day after he is covered in shaving cream and the day after that his skin is smooth as a baby.

After the jump you can see the evolution of the billboard.
