The Cape Times is a South African newspaper, with these prints they want to illustrate how close they always are to the news. 3 historic events are used to make this point clear, first of all the studentprotests at Tianmen square in China (1989), secondly the ’shoe-attack’ on George Bush Jr (2008) and lastly the landing on the moon (1969).
From the dawn on monday, to the setting sun of saturday, an epic war rages. Men vs Women. Until suddenly, harmony breaks out.
Well, at least on Sunday.

The Sun is one of the best selling english newspapers in the world, daily there are more than 3.200.000 papers sold. The last couple of years are difficult times for newspapers, because digital media is becoming bigger and bigger. And sadly, I think there won’t be a lot of newspapers left in a couple of decades. Too bad, because the feeling of a newspaper in your hands is still the best. That’s what The Sun tries to communcate in this ad. They’ve done this in a really simple way, I like it a lot.

The Chicago Tribune is a daily newspaper based in Chicago, Illinois, United States, formerly self-styled as the “World’s Greatest Newspaper”. It is currently the eighth largest newspaper in America by circulation and the second largest under Tribune’s ownership behind Los Angeles Times.
Typical for the Chicago Tribune is that they always look at both sides of a story, what is shown in this campaign.
They have been running a print advertising campaign outlining the difference a newspaper with integrity can make to the community.

De Morgen is one of the leading Belgian newspapers. To promote their website, Duval Guillaume created this unique concept. They released a newspaper with 3 frontpages in a row! On the bottom of these pages you could see the message ‘The newspaper that constantly refreshes, demorgen.be’.
This is a promotion for the CD give away in The Sydney Morning Herald of performances by The Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
I’m not saying this is a brilliant ad, but if you get this in your hands it’s always cool to see new creative ideas. It would get a smile on my face if I saw this.
In Iraq a lot of foreigners are being kidnapped. To prove that these people are still alive the kidnappers give them a newspaper so the date can be verified. In this case the guy that is being kidnapped is already holding the newspaper with his picture that the kidnappers are going to send to the newspaper to demand a ransom. This advertisement was made for Bild, a German newspaper that claims to be world’s fastest newspaper.
Remember the campaign that Rindert posted of ‘The Zimbabwean‘ a couple of months ago?
This campaign was created for The Zimbabwean, a newspaper that is runned by exiled Zimbabwean journalists and is sold in the UK, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Back then, (and now also) the Zimbabwean money was worthless because of Mugabe, the president.
TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris, the agency, used worthless high denomination Zimbabwe currency as the materials in billboards, murals, posters and flyers.
This was a protest to the policy of Robert Mugabe, because it had an negative impact to the country’s economy.
This campaign won the ‘Grand Prix award‘ for the Outdoor category..
