I’ve posted this ad because I really love the graphical efforts they put into this one. Make sure you look at the enlarged version of the image, you can see the incredible amount of details. And ofcourse the idea behind this campaign is not bad at all!
This is an old but very effective advertisement. They twisted the words. We are all familiar the slogan ‘Smoking causes cancer’ but the other way around ‘ Cancer cures smoking’ is very provocative. Even the most die-hard smoker will think twice before he lights up another cigarette.
This campaign was made for Greenpeace to save the oceans and everything that lives in it. These sea animals are all made out of pencils. The slogan reads: “Every signature helps save our seas.” It was awarded a Silver Lion at Cannes this year.

Despite the popularity of this prestige contest, the entries descended with 20% this year due to the economic crisis.
To give you an idea, last year 28.284 entries were sent in, this year only 22.652..
But less quantity doesn’t mean less quality..
Some made a list of the favourites and yes, in the 3 months Creative Criminals is online, several of our ‘chosen ones’ are potential award winners.
The balconies of an appartement building in one of the busiest streets in Frankfurt (Germany) were redesigned with giant-shaped storage boxes of Ikea. With this campaign the Swedish home products retailer targets people that live in apartments and obvious have not that much space, so these storage boxes are very useful.
The boardgame “Scrabble” celebrates it’s 60th birthday with this new ad. But the main purpose is to change the image of the game. The penetration of scrabble in France is already really high, they now want to recruit new and young families. That’s why scrabble want’s to lose the image of being a boring and outdated game.
When I first saw this ad I thought ‘What kind of commercial is this?’! But actually it is pretty funny, even if it doesn’t make any sense.. If it were for me, they could show a lot more of these kind of ads on TV!
