At the occasion of a Whisky Live Festival, Drive Dry, an organization striving for safe driving, created an ambient campaign. They collected the personal belongings of Heather Cosser, a woman killed by a drunk driver. Those belongings were crushed in a heavy-duty compressor into a square, which was put at the festival.

On Creative Criminals there have been many bloody commercials posted so far. Remember the german ad for Jungstil where two women start to fight? Or the Japanese one for Suntory’s Goma-Mugicha, tea for people who suffer from a high blood pressure? Well we found another one from the International Anti-Fur Coalition.
Do these bloody commercials work? No idea, but they do provoke and attract attention. And in a sort of way, they’re pretty funny..

Frito-Lay is a company that produces potato chips, but it’s extremely concerned about the environment as well. They dream of a world with less waste. That’s why they’ve introduced a bag made from plants so it’s fully compostable. A chips package is designed to fully break down in just 14 weeks.
After the jump you can see a movie that shows the composting process of one bag of chips.

Public transport in Cape Town, South Africa is unreliable and unsafe at the best times, and so people who go out for a night on the town often take chances by driving under the influence of alcohol. It was these individuals that Rikkis, the city’s iconic door-to-door taxi company, wanted to focus on. Being a young and dynamic brand, they wanted to promote their service in an unusual way.

Posters were displayed in restrooms of popular restaurants, bars and clubs where the company’s direct-line phones are installed. The posters specific positioning brought the concept to life because when viewed in the reflection of the mirrors above the washbasins, they gave the consumer the impression that they were posing for a police mug shot. This turned out to be an engaging way of offering a simple alternative to breaking the law.

This print ad for Lego won the grand prix at the 2006 Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. At first it’s not really clear what the point of this ad is, but in fact it speaks to everyone’s imagination. With just a couple of Lego blocks a whole story can be created. The huge space also suggests the possibilities are endless when you work with Lego.

The Cape Times is a South African newspaper, with these prints they want to illustrate how close they always are to the news. 3 historic events are used to make this point clear, first of all the ’shoe-attack’ on George Bush Jr (2008), secondly the studentprotests at Tianmen square in China (1989) and lastly the landing on the moon (1969).

A nice billboard ad by a South African electric company created to get business and individuals to turn off unnecessary power usage. Eskom also asked municipalities voluntarily switch off Christmas lights. This was not taken very well by the local citizens.

It is brilliant by night but confusing during the day I must say.

Everybody knows them, you probably had them when you were a child: Toy Soldiers. Building armies and let them fight each other while making funny ‘beatbox’ noises.
Well, UNICEF does it again…
They thought of a clever direct mailing action. a typical packet of toy soldiers that once opened reveals that figurines are in fact children doing their the stuff that kids should be doing, and not being turned into child soldiers.
