It’s a challenge for supermarkets to attract customers during the current economic crisis. Especially in a heavy struck country like Italy this is a difficult assignment. Saatchi & Saatchi Milan came up with this brilliant stunt. The first supermarket of Italy was opened in 1961 in Rome. For one single day a supermarket in Rome changed all the prices of their products to the original prices from 1961. We do wonder what they did to the price of an iTunes gift-card?

In this commercial a certain product from Lidl supermarkets meets the Italian composer Vivaldi. Can anyone guess about what product we are talking? If you don’t really like the commercial you can at least enjoy some great music.

Research shows that many Korean customers were focused on getting to and from work and felt they had little time for supermarket shopping. Homeplus created virtual stores in subway stations hoping to blend into people’s everyday lives. The displays were designed to look exactly like those in actual stores, from display layout to the merchandise. Customers were able to use their smart phones to scan QR codes, putting products in their on-line carts. When the online purchase was transacted, shopping was delivered to the door right after customers reached their homes.

Lidl: The Marathon for Water

In Guiné-Bissau, women have to walk the equivalent of a Marathon to reach the most basic things such as water. Lidl, a German supermarket that has been in Portugal for over 15 years decided to do something to change this and forever shorten these distances. They’ve organized ‘the Marathon for water’. They’ve asked a woman from Giuné-Bissau to participate in the most important marathon of Portugal. With this they wanted to create awareness for the problem. The initiative gathered a lot of money, so they could create some artificial water wells so the women of Guiné-Buissau have to walk less to reach water.

Mr. Bean is 20 years. The clumsy, somewhat autistic type is especially known for his short sketches on TV. But he also did some short sketches for advertisers in his career.. These two are for Rema 1000, a Norwegian supermarket.
Anybody knows other commercials featuring Mr. Bean?
