Shield Security: Secret Message

Posted by Bert Callens - Category: Ambient

Shield Security is a company based in Amsterdam. From securing employees to thorough business analysis, reducing risks is their specialty. It’s a booming business, yet they have one problem: to find skilled employees.

This is an example of highly targeted advertising. They’ve constructed special suitcases where a recruitment message was written in steel letters. When scanned at airports or other public locations, the working security officers could read what Shield Security had to say:
Wanted, security personnel. Shieldsecurity.nl“.
Special promo teams, as well as the employees of Shield Security, uses these briefcases.
Genius, although I wonder whether the recruitment action had a lot of success..

UPDATE: This idea has been done before.

Mini: Boxes

Three days ago we posted and ambient ad made for Heineken regarding huge walk-in fridge boxes. Apparently car constructor Mini had the same idea. They made it look like the small car were delivered in a cardboard box that you could pick up in your local store. These boxes were put out on the street to get picked up by garbage men.

After the jump you can see a video of how people react.

We have talked about the Heineken Walk in Fridge but we never published the original commercial. Now is a good time to show it because it is airing again at the end of the year on TV.

At the same time huge walk-in Fridge boxes were placed on the streets of Amsterdam the day that garbage was picked up. Implying that these huge fridges are actually for sale. Click on the banner above to view all pictures.

More fun after the jump with the Heineken Walk-in Fridge box.

This is a really nice campaign for KitKat, it’s a couple of months old but definitely worth sharing!
One day before Easter, they sent an email to the 2 largest Dutch news sites. The email was written by a non-existing person, who claimed he saw the face of Jesus in his KitKat after taking a bite. As proof of his story he attached 2 pictures of the famous KitKat.

The largest Dutch news site published the story immediately. After four days more than 150.000 sites published the story.

XXL Carwash: Washing instructions

For a lot of people washing clothes isn’t that simple, that’s why clothing manufacturers attach a little label inside. This note gives the exact instruction of how to wash your clothes.
But why are people using hard plastic brushes in a carwash to wash their car? XXL Carwash uses brushes made of textile cloth, this is much better for your car and leaves no scratches. To inform this way of washing your car, they attached the same type of label to cars. The washing label is a voucher, which gives you a 50% discount on all washing programs during a three-week period.

Centraal Beheer Achmea: Just call us

Centraal Beheer Achmea is a Dutch Insurance company. It was founded in 1909 in Amsterdam and moved to the city of Apeldoorn in the 70’s.

In 1984 the company decided to launch a campaign that should expand their brand awareness and create a positive association with the insurance company. They advertised with the words: “Even Apeldoorn bellen” meaning “Just call us, Apeldoorn”.

In the commercials people experience awkward/painful situations that are very humorous for the viewers. The commercials are mostly in Dutch (some in English) although very little Dutch is spoken; the situations are understandable without the knowledge of Dutch.

In 2009 they stopped these popular commercials due to an attempt to assassin the Queen in Apeldoorn. The relation of the slogan “Just call us, Apeldoorn” is too close related to the attempt to kill the Queen in Apeldoorn.

Watch all 54 commercials after the jump.

Van Gils: Fake Sextapes

Sex tapes. You have got to have one if you want to become famous.
I’ve done some research on the internet (no, not like you think) to see which girls have made a sex tape already. If you click ‘Sex tape’ on google, names start to appear: Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Tila Tequila, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and many more.

A couple of weeks ago a sex tape of the famous Carmen Electra popped out.
It showed the model kissing with another women. A week after Electra’s ’sextape’ (you couldn’t call it a real sex tape because they only kiss), another sex tape appeared. And it wasn’t of an American singer or actress, it was from a Dutch model called Yfke Sturm.

These two sex tapes were a teaser. It was said that the sequel would come out soon, and would be more spicier.. And it did, but in the end it appeared to be a commercial for ‘Van Gils‘, a Dutch company that fabrics suits for men.

Strange campaign don’t you think?
But it’s a perfect example of thinking out of the box. Van Gils got what it wanted, free media. And a lot of men (I don’t know whether these men fit in the target group) like to look at sort of sex tapes..

Will he make it?

Zuidhof: I will see you at the Butcher’s shop

Butcher’s shop Zuidhof in The Netherlands made a remarkable ambient together with a local advertising agency. Cows were dressed up with the Slogan: “I will see you at Butcher’s shop Zuidhof.”

You can at least say that this idea is a bit out of the ordinary and the general public was not set up with it. After all the commotion the butcher decided not to continue with this strange way of advertising. Apart from that are the cows that they picked only used to produce milk.
