Plane Stupid: It’s raining bears

It’s raining men? In this spot it doesn’t..
Mother London made a shocking ad for Plane Stupid, an organization fighting aviation expansion.
It tells that “an average European flight produces over 400kg of greenhouse gases for every passenger…that’s the weight of an adult polar bear.”..
How to make this fact clear to a crowd? Well by showing polar bears falling from the sky to splattery deaths. Probably it will evoke extremely negative emotions for some. But yeah it’s a fact: shocking ads spread like fire!

What has the weight of a Polar Bear to do with an amount of CO2 expressed in kilograms? This is a stupid comparison. It’s true that exhaust gasses are damaging the environment, but the weight link is just too far fetched imho.
Instead of bashing aviation industry, they’d better promote initiatives like greenseat: http://www.greenseat.com

They sure know how to make an impression. But does it really need to be so bloody, really? They couldn’t have had just shown the bears falling and then the sounds of them hitting the ground (it might have been even more effective that way as well, don’t you think)?

Broodkast, you’re right about the vague link of the polar bears and the CO² emissions.
But by shocking everyone, the spot goes round and round..
I think that was their goal.
