Young people are facing a tough employment market at the moment often with hundreds of applicants for one job and also with the older generation not retiring till later it results in less job opportunities. While overall unemployment is starting to decrease, there is a rising number of 18- to 24-year-old NEETs (not in education, employment or training). In this video, 20 young people think they are coming for an interview with a career specialist to help them understand what jobs or sources of income suit their skills. 


It’s an important day; one that could help them stop being a statistic or case study of the UK’s worst youth unemployment since the Great Depression, and help them start to support themselves, contribute to the community and become financially independent. But it’s not that simple – their backgrounds, appearance, age and education mean they are judged before they even start to speak. This video shows how these judgments can be irretrievably damaging
